I have an office desk diary, which I feel is easier for me with meal plannings, workouts etc .It works great for me, as I can monitor and refer back whenever I need to. Also helps me pinpoint if anything triggers cravings, Sometimes even while watching t.v ,I sit with my diary and plan the next day.Good luck and do what works for you.

I so appreciate all of your prayers and I am in the beginning of this long process. First the evaluations, you are assigned a case worker, kind of a advocate for you... Try and get a program called pickels?? and Respite, which will give me time to myself... and even with this, there are a lot of politics involved...I had a friend come over and walk me thru the steps, what the system can and can't do so they can't mess with me.... I am glad she came over, her son is much worse than Cameron, he repeats everything, yells out and he is 8, even though it about killed me when they told me, I know he is not as far along as her son... God help her. She has went thru so much already.. Well my son has konked out on me already so I better get the sleep I can get until he wakes up... Later all

I agree with Ice-skaters last para.Americans are so lucky, you have it all right there. I visited the States twice and enjoyed both experiences. My fav place being San Francisco....Loved it...and the gorgeous Van nes beach in L.A... but my lasting memory is of Las Vegas, It took me couple months to pay off my credit card....and NO, I DIDNT HIT THE BIG ONE.

Don't kill me for these questions, actually do . I like open and honest opinions. :-D I know these are stereo types and that you might not personally feel like it but do you think the stereo type is there?
1) We get the impression that Americans can sue for everything and anything. For instance have any one watched Judge Julie or Amy or something like that. I always thougth it's really funny that imported appliances have messages like: Warning: Do not touch the iron when hot. Until I heard that a women in the USA sued MCD'S becuase she burend her mouth becuase the coffe was hot. She won because no where did MCd's have warnings that coffee is hot. Is it true that you can easily sue or is it Urban legends and depending on in which state your in.
2) From the Oprah show it almost seem that most women are house wifes and that their is a real negative feeling towards mother's, women that work full time. It's just a question, true or false.

1) You are pretty correct on that one. People sue for the stupidest things.
2) I don't know what the percentage is on housewives in this country. I don't know a lot of other moms that don't work. I am a housewife myself, but don't watch Oprah, I just play on the computer all day ;) I think that working mom's get jealous because they want to be home with the kids, and they have to work and take care of the housework too. Housewives are jealous because they would like to talk to adults during the day, that and a pay check would be nice.

Snack food: My favourite is rusks. I don't know if you get it over there. It's like a sweet bread that you dry and dip in coffee. You can make it whole weat etc.
Weather: In Johannesburg we have hot sunny summers. -+27 C don't know what that is in ferenheit. And winters are not to cold. Usually a jacket and scarf is enough. I always hope it will get colder. Otherwise we are famous for our thunder storms that usually hits in the afternoons, sometimes they include hail. And that is the worst weather we get hear. We are really lucky.
House pest: mmm..I guess ants,mice, cockrouches. And if you have pets, fleas might come to visit. But we don't get to many of the above.

Flower: Actually, on Thursday I am getting some blond highlights in the front. My hair is highlighted blond already but sometimes fades to a reddish which I don't like. I'd love my brunette hair again but I have so much gray now that it would really be noticeable in about a week. So, blond and curly really does a good job of hiding those horrid, too early for gray roots! Oh yeah, I LOVE Sarah Jessica Parker's hair. I used to watch Sex and the City just to see her hair. Ever since Muscle Media went out of business, I am hesitant as to reading another fitness magazine. Especially ones geared toward men. I've looked at a few, and they either seem to go from being aimed at the "Be as big as you can be" to "How to dress for success and drive your woman crazy, and oh yeah, here's a fitness article so we can label ourselves as a fitness magazine."
That's what I liked about MM, it was geared towards overall fitness, and not trying to be some gigantic hulk.
Any suggestions?

Two things I'm thinking about! Has anyone else noticed how different everything tastes after being off sugar and processed foods? I have had this tea before called Celestial Seasonings Honey Vanilla Chamomile and thought it was kinda plain. Well, I had it yesterday and it tasted so sweet to me! I just don't need sugar anymore and I love it. And I was also wondering...anyone seen Narnia yet??? I'm wondering if my kids would handle the battle scenes okay or if I should screen it first. I'd love to just take them but would not love to go back to bad dreams and a bed full of little bodies every morning! My kids would not be able to handle those Lord of the Rings battle scenes if that gives you an idea. So who saw this movie??? :)

I saw the movie last friday and thought it was pretty mild. There were a lot of kids in there and they all seemed to be okay. The battles were not as bad as you might imgaine. It showed some blood but nothing much. Its a cute, kinda cheesy movie, so I assume, most kids will really like it. We enjoyed it but the actors just weren't the best:) Hope you all enjoy! Have you read the book yet? We have been reading it to eachother for a month or so now. We are really having fun!

I saw the movie over the weekend too and am pretty sensitive, covered my eyes through all the battle scenes and the when Aslan... well I won't say incase you don't know. I am 34 and love the books as a girl, and loved the movie... my husband on the other hand was bored :-)

My boys are 4 1/2 and 6 and they LOVED the movie. The battle scenes do not come out as bad at some other movies we have seen. I thought it was a wonderful movie and would buy it. We are homeschoolers and so we don't see alot of violent things in the first plays so... I hope you enjoy it! Blessings

Thanks you guys! Yes, we have all the books and I read each of them in about a day (they are so much fun). My kids have only read the second book - The Lion, Witch, and Warddrobe. I think the only thing that will annoy me about the movie is when it steers away from the original story...but I can deal with that for the fun of SEEing the story, you know?

My "recovery" shake is 8 oz water/1 scoop betagen/1 scoop L-Glutamine/1/2 scoop Cytovol
At night I make it with 1 Cup milk instead of water and blend it in the blender with 1 scoop vanilla protein and 6 ice cubes - it taste just like a Orange Dreamsicle!!! Yummmy!
During the day I take CLA 2 with meals 3 times a day and I take the Thermo Dynamx twice a day at 10am and 3pm.

Tigermuscle: the studies on glutamine were subject to criticism because it was thought that the subjects didn't workout hard enough. So, in some since, glutamine is not beneficial if the exercise isn't strenuous enough.

I think it is a bit distasteful personally, but thats my opinion and am not forcing it upon anyone else. I can see relaxing and having some fun but at the same time I get annoyed to see threads advertising naked women. I dont know how the new people feel about this but I know if I was a newcomer, I might not want to return to the site after seeing something like that. I come here looking for inspiration and motivation...nothing else. This is by no means condemning you all for loosening up and enjoying yourselves, heck I dont even want to open up the thread, but maybe it could be done in the chat room instead of on the message board?? I am all for having some fun on here. Hell the penis and vagina threads were a riot. For me it crossed the line when it became about one group of people horning all over each other and talking about meeting for sex in hotels on their lunch breaks. Then GymBeamin' getting upset because someone used her real name in a reply. The tone has gotten icky and sleazy.
One of my friends was solicited for naked pics in a PM.

Search my posts, Chuck. I have indeed posted my advice on several fitness and diet related threads. Granted most of my posts have occurred in the off-topic and possibly offensive threads. He warned people they were there...I chose to go through and look at them. I didn't open the thread and see them staring me in the face. He wasn't begging people for naked pics or sending PM's to them either looking for naked pics.

Okay I agree that most people are right in that we need to blow of steam and have a little fun as well with the friends we make here on the tracker but I had not idea there were PM's asking for nude pics going on. I guess that's your business and hey I'm no prude either but I agree when I come on this site and see more new threads in the OT forums than I see in the exercise, support or eating for life forum it tells me that this site is starting to become less a place for BFL support but more of a meat market.
Hey I'm all for sex and talking a good talk but that's why I have the blog and email so I can talk about non-bfl topics if I want. Overall I know everyone is giving a lot of support to folks but I think it's become a bit unbalanced in terms of BFL support vs. sex talk. If you want to talk BFL that's what the tracker is for...if you want to talk sex? Hey these BFL ladies blogs are downright STEAMY and you horny boys and girls would do well to check them out!! Just go to their profiles and click their links and trust me...it's all out there and in the open lol (okay the ladies are gonna shoot me now) but my point is that I came here to get support on my lifting, cardio, eating and beginner troubles. If the topics start becoming more sex related than workout related I start looking for another site because frankly there sooooo many (and frankly much better) sites for sexual stimulation and too very few for BFL support. I'm not saying we need to shut down the OT threads...although it might stop the sex topics from overloading the workout topics, but I think a little restraint in our libidos overpouring into the forum would be a good idea.
Now for those of you who NEED a good site for sexual stimulation I'm sure we can ALLLLLL send you our favorite links/blogs and you'll be MORE than happy with what you find there :)

Folks I'm going to jump in and post another comment here. It's not the content that necessarily bothers me...it's the overwhelming amount of it. There are times that the penis, vagina, sex topics are overwhelming the support topics in the new messages screen when you first log on. Hey guys...I'm all about fun and sex believe me. But I have 2-3 posts that went nearly unanswered a while back because the sex posts were getting all the attention. How would you feel if you had a legitimate need for support on here, came here for that need and found yourself drowned out by off topic conversation? It's like going to the emergency room and all the nurses and doctors are too busy telling joke and talking about sex that they forget about being there to support you. That's the reason a lot of people stop coming to this site.
Again I'm not trying to censor or judge your sexual lives at all...far from it. I'm just saying that this forum has REALLY become unbalanced and people logging in are goign to see a lot more off topic posts upfront than support posts and that might make people want to give up on a healthy lifestyle because they can't find the support they need. Remember this is a support site not a gossip forum. The ignore button only blocks it doesn't help support the folks who need it.

You can check my history, and yes, I've posted on a penis thread or two. But as someone said, that seemed more generalized, whereas the latest threads feel like an adult (XXX) online dating service. If I were new to thie site and wanted BFL support/info, I'd go somewhere else. Not b/c I don't like sex (I mean, c'mon!), but b/c I'd be looking for BFL stuff, not adult hook-up topics. I would think perhaps this site wasn't the best place for me and my fitness quest.
Yeah, you can ignore or not open topics, which is what I do now if I feel I don't want to read about naked pics, etc. But I'm not new to this site.
Whether I'm totally right or totally wrong, I gotta say again, I agree with Suzanne. I think a private chat type thing might be a great solution for the people mentioned. I would think you'd *want* to keep it between you all. You seem to have a great rapport going! Just not everyone appreciates it.

Everyone has different lives and different jobs so perhaps 69 is able to post, work out, eat, and do everything else she wants to in life. It does not warrant sarcastic responses such as the one above, especially when this thread seemed to be winding down, and now it is being stirreed up again. I had a very slow period in my job last week so I could post more. However, this week I am back to being very busy so I can only post during a quick 10 minute lunch break and at home after work. Again, everyone is different, and the events in people's lives change often. Hopefully in the future you will be able to find a little more free time. I sure wish I can do that also because I see it only getting busier for me in the next 3 - 4 weeks. Cheers!

Well, I have been on the chat room twice recently with jamber and 4achange and we never, ever talked about sex, not even mildly.
We talked about BFL, kids, the military, debt, music, houses, Christmas, religion, Sea World, and I think that was about it.
If people are avoiding the chat room because they think it is a big sex/swinger fest, they are truly missing out. They can always check in to the chat room, see what the conversation is like, and then leave if they do not like the tone, subject, etc.

This is retarded as usual. I don't think the O/T category should be removed. I've been here for about a year now and this is the first time a group had a "rapport" going to this type of extent. Bottom line is that I never had a problem with what you all were saying personally. I thought it should be kept to private messages because im sure some people would be offended. Judging by the PMs I got supporting my comments I was right.
Im a freak, no two ways about it. I said to keep it to the PMs so thats what I did after you apologized. Taking my PRIVATE message public was wrong and you should be banned from this site in my opinon. The webmaster has been contacted.

If what I think just happened here actually happened then you really REALLY HAVE crossed the line. Is it my understanding that someone did a cut & paste with a private pm & posted it here? Now its been deleted? I sure hope I've misunderstood! If I sent someone something "private" & in confidence & they posted it I'd have to say thats gotta be the absolute lowest thing I've seen here yet. This is what I hear personally from a number of supporters (I won't give names I protect my friends) But they are right...I have a right to call him out!!!!

Well did I ever miss the... ummm excitement around here all day!
3 points & then I'll settle back into obscurity again...
1.I'm sorry it had to come out like this.. but I'm glad that the topic is finally being dealt with in some way.. & from the amount of responses it's been on more peoples mind than just mine.
2. It's sad to see that it's been days like today & huge in-fighting that have driven away a lot of really great supportive & fun people from a place that at it's best can be an amazing source of help, inspiration, & excitement about doing BFL.
3. Not unlike before -I just wish the Webmaster would/ could step in deal with things as they start to unravel-even as adult we seem to need some sort of parental controls or at the very least a damn referee when you get a large group of emotional people together..
I have to agree Tracy.. it's not quite a yr yet for me.. I have a couple of months to meet that anniversary .. but I wonder how this will play out-I wonder will the webmaster finally call it - I seem to recall that was a possibility in the past...

The best boards I've ever been part of have several 'moderators' who exercise strong control over the board if necessary. While they do set a tone of fun and support, they think nothing of closing down threads or banning people who prove themselves to be nothing but trolls. And you know what? Those boards espouse a very diverse and LARGE group of people who somehow get along at the end of the day, even if they bicker about religion or politics or sex or whatever. Or at least they're experienced enough to know that sometimes the best way to deal with drama is to ignore it. This whole he said she said would never see the light of day and people who post PM's are not well tolerated.
I think the whole internet can depersonalize communications to the point where people lose all sense of decorum and say (or type) things they would never dream of saying in person.
It might serve the future of this board if moderators were to be used.

Ive been on here about 6 months myself. I come here to help people to the best of my ability. While I dont really follow BFL anymore (I do something called Max OT) I come here to help new people begin their transformations.
I think im going to go hang out at my other well moderated board for a while. Im not going to become a "self removed member" or anything. Just going to take a few days away from the tracker.

I'm tired of all the negative focus on the other thread, so I just want to state this by itself....please don't reply if all you want to do is continue to be negative....I understand the point of view from everyone who has spoken and don't need to hear it again.
But, for those offended I am sorry. I honestly meant no harm...it was just in fun. I guess it's easy to say that they shouldn't be looking on the off topic sites, but many, including me, didn't know when they first came here that these were divided up that way, and you just look at the list of topics, find one that looks "interesting" and open it up. havent seen the movie, and never enjoyed Mac Donalds, except the fish of fillet, which now is too oily for me. My daughter is a big fan, actually she loves the toys, and many times buys only to get the toys. I am against wasting food, but when she doesnt eat the food, and races off with the toy, I cant bring myself to force her to eat, knowing its Krap. Take care people, I recently read that even their salads are loaded with fat, and calories. Even a salad from them would equal a good wholesome plate of food. Cant remember exact calories, but it was over 400. Also sickening was the process they use to kill the chickens, literally skinning and scalding them alive....
Now my 10yr old refuses to support them and took the article to school to show her friends that Mac Donalds Is bad...bad people, bad food and bad for the health.

I enjoy my free day and allow myself some treats...dont go overboard. I normally save it to eat out, or something special. Last free day, we had a brunch and I stuffed, tried to keep it healthier until dessert. I still enjoyed my dessert but was stuffed the rest of the day and at night just had soup. so i guess it kinda evened out. Enjoy the free day/meal, try not to totally pig out

Counting calories is essential if you want to know what works for your body.
Try eating 3 days at 500 below and one day at or above BMR * 1.55
Going back and forth every other day would cancel each other out and you would stay the same weight (theoretically)

If I remember correctly, Hussmans site has some good information on it but his calulators are incorrect. They fail to take into account your activity level.

I just did his BMR calculator to make sure I was right. It said that I should eat 1380-1900 to lose weight. NO man should EVER go below 1600.
Your BMR is how many calories you burn sitting on your arse all day doing nothing. You have to factor in your activity level or else you risk eating an unhealty number of calories a day.
click here for a good article on calories and how many you need to lose weight. There is a link to an Excel spreedsheet at the botton that does the calulations for you. Read the whole article though, its good information to have.
Dont worry, I did you are doing for about 6 weeks.

hey just wondering if you are getting enough protein. there is a great site, www.mybodycomp.com that will tell you how much you are burning based on your measurements and activity level. I am 125 and consume probably about 1500 to 1700 a day with lean chicken, tuna, veggies, and my favorite breakfast fresh berries granola and yogurt. Portions are just the size of my fist and I stop eating when I am full... OK I am Miss Chatty today, still reeling from a HHIT of 8.0 on the treadmill... Good luck:)

actually, I was wondering about Wrecky.....said she had been taking in FAR too few calories.
I stopped watching calories a few weeks back, started concentrating on portions, making certain that I have a protein & a carb at breakfast & lunch then a protein & veggie at supper and still watching the midmeals.
My pants are "literally" hangin on me today.
I did a bad thing this a.m......got on the house scale (piece of crap)....it's off by like 13 lbs (shows me 13 lbs. heavier, damn!)....I just deduct 13 lbs. fromt he total......looks like I'm down another 1/2 lbs since Saturday.
Ofcourse, other un-heavals on the home fronnt have a little to do with that too (not too much of an appetite lately).
I'll be fine.....or divorced....we'll see

if you body has become accoustomed to the 1150, I would add slowly, maybe 100-150 a day until your around you ideal caloric intake.

I used the hussman site. But when I checked on the site that chuck mentioned it was minimim 1950 that was WITHOUT activity...I am so not bright when it comes to math and all these calculations. Maybe someone can help me. I am 5'4, 194 pounds. I want to lose as much weight as is healthy.

Wrecky, I would say 1900 is a good start. No calulator can give you an exact number because everyones metabolism is different. If you have been eating around 1100 a day yours has been really slowed down. Dont get too upset, you can bring it back up in time.
What I would suggest is eating 100-150 more calories a day for a week every week until you get to 1900.
Example:
Week 1: 1150
Week 2: 1300
Week 3: 1450 etc...
Just take it slow. If you jump too high too fast your body will not be able to keep up and the extra calories could be stored as fat. Slow and steady wins the race. The most important thing is you get you metabolism going again. Dont forget to reevaluate every so often. When you get down to 170lbs you will need less food than you do a 190.

Ah! this is exactly the discussion i needed to see!! i hadn't been about to check this for a while because of exams. Chuckdiesel, I too went to that link and read the article and did up my cals on the excel spreadsheet and it told me to be eating 1780-1880 cals a day to LOSE fat based on a moderate activity lifestyle.. that was great to hear becasue it would explain why the 1400cal i was eating a day was leaving me weak as ever as the week progressed. So i was going to adjust accordingly until i went to Hussman's site and did his calc and it said i should be eating 1350 or so a day to lose fat and that was the ONLY way.. so then i was as frusterated and confused as ever (i know exactly what you are going through, Wrecky!!!!) It is great to hear that his calc is wrong because I really didn't want to have to cut back cals even more!! I already feel like my metabolism is slowing rather than speeding up since I was eating 1400 for the past 4 weeks.. it is unfortunate that i was eating wrong for this long without knowing it! So now i think i will use portion sizes for my 3 week subchallenge and see how that goes. I will track the cals at first just to make sure im not WAAAAY out in left field though. But I too will wean my way up to ~1800 a day.. which should kick start my metabolism, give me a little more food to play with so i don't feel like im a little bird, and give me the energy i need to work out to my full potential! oh and also prevent my late night starvations!! they were getting bad too as the week went on... Thanks for the information everyone! Wrecky, looks like we are going through the same thing here.. i look forward to seeing how tweeking your cals works out for you!! as for me.. my Christmas 2005 challenge will be my indicator...

you could also try using some straps. These will help keep some of the pressure off of your wrists.
A barbell would be a great asset too!
For quads you could rotate in some isometric exercises like sitting up against a wall holding onto something heavy. Each sit should last anywhere from 60-120 sec and build up from there.
for walking lunges, try resting the dumbells on your shoulders and see if that helps.

See if you can find a Play It Again sports or some kind of recycled sports shop in your area. Oly bars can be ~$100 if you get them new, I got mine for $40. Those are 45 lbs and I'd suggest getting a few (maybe 4?) 10# plates to start out with. You don't want to go much heavier than 50-60 pounds with a loaded oly bar if you don't have a squat rack to support the weight as you're mounting and dismounting. Not sure how extensive you want to get for your home gym, or how much you want to spend, but NY Barbells has sales on them. If you keep the weightlifting up, you're going to end up needing to go heavier than what working with dumbbells will allow - for legs at least.
And lifting straps should help with the wrist pain. There's a brand called The Hooker (insert bawdy sophomoric joke of choice here). You can order from bodybuilding.com. It actually has a metal hook built into the glove, and that can take a lot of pressure off your wrists.

lift your upper body (like a sit up, just not all the way), then lift your legs, while trying to keep them straight
so that your body looks like a V
hard as hell to do it right unless you have good core strength anyway

Snow is one thing, but I'd avoid running outside if it's icy. It's just not worth the damage you could do. When I run outdoors and it's particularly cold, I find it helps if I pull my collar up over my mouth and nose (or zip my jacket up high and do the same). You'll find it's much more comfortable to breathe frigid air if you're breathing through something.
Keep up the jogging! When I first started, running one minute was DEATH. After a few weeks, I could run 3 miles and still feel pretty good--it can be done! (There's an excellent website called Cool Running that has great runner tips, as well as a plan for training to run a 5K--you might check it out if your goal is to run for 20 minutes straight!)

One of the guys in my office went running the other day. Unfortantly he slipped on some black ice and broke his leg. He had to have surgery on it. So be careful if your running in the cold weather.

I'm such a baby when it comes to the remotest possibility of climatical discomfort. :P But this year I have willed myself to do a some of my cardio sessions outside, and layer. It's not been so bad actually. But I won't do it in windy or icy conditions, either.

Thanks you guys! This morning I used my steps for 5 mins, then grabbed the dog and jogged as far as I could and back, came in and went back to the steps. When that started wearing me out again, I ran up and down them 2 times then did jumping jacks (about 2 per second) for the entire last minute to hit my 10. The last 15 seconds of that was killing me so now I will know I've made progress if I can do that for more than the last minute. It was horrible jogging outside - like breathing ice. But the "triathalon" was really effective so I think I have found my fun way to get my cardio done!

I'm feeling down on myself again today. I ate well and worked out but I just don't feel like I'm making any progress. In fact, I weighed after my workout tonight and gained 5 lbs since last Monday!! I should NEVER have done that. I don't know if it's because I weighed at night or what. All day I felt uncomfortable in my clothes. I'm trying to force myself in my old clothes....waiting for them to fit better and it just hasn't happened. I wish I could wear sweats to work. :) I feel like I'm just stuck at this size.
Sorry to complain and be so negative...I guess I just need to vent.

You're only in your 3rd week. Most people don't start seeing a major physical difference until about the 8th week. Hopefully you're feeling better internally because you're eating better food and building a better body from the inside out. Remember that it will take time...but...if you keep at it this program will keep you at the size and shape you'll want because of your changce lifestyle...not because you're constantly finding new ways to lose weight. Cheer up...it's going to be okay :)

Smaret Calorie asks more info, it gave me 36.2 for Body Fat Percent, 27.9 for BMI and .86 for Waist to Hip Ratio.
The Navy site gave me 34.1% Body fat.
Even though I am a former Sailor...and would love to think the Navy site is more accurate, I think I'm gonna suck it up and go with Smart Calorie.

I use smart-calorie once a week (same day as I weifgh and take measurements) so everyhting is updated at the same time.

wow.. i like the navy one... it measures my bodyfat at 17.5 while the fancy scale I bought says it is 21.8 percent. Any idea which could be more accurate?

I have heard that the body fat scales are not very accurate and can vary greatly depending on the time of day that you use them. I think the key is to use one method consistently...ie do your measurements at the same time of day using the same method.
The most accurate method is hydrostatic testing...where they put you in a tank of water.

I think alot of this "out of workout mode" has to do with the winter months coming on.
It's pretty cold in Georgia (compared to what I'm used to......I'm a summer-time person), and it's more difficult for me to get to the gym when it's cold out.

Last night my wife's work was having a Christmas carnival for the kids of the workers where my wife works. She works at a hospital, which also owns the gym where we work out. The carnival was at the gym.
Here's what I found interesting, all these kids where sitting there eating cookies, drinking kool aid, and winning candy as their prize playing various games, all in the middle of the gym. Mind you, they did not shut down the gym for this event, so there were people all over the place working out as these kids walked by eating cookies.
Perhaps the gym was just insuring its survival by creating a new generation of customers. :) I just found it ironic that the very facility that is suppose to be promoting good health is doing the exact opposite with these kids.

Well I am leaving to go home at noon for a week and a half and then to my B/Fs for christmas and new years, so my workout routine is gone.. So in order to make it through til Jan 3 (when I get back here to school) I am devising a sub challenge.
What I am going to do:
1) screw fitday for once and go to portions every 2-3h
2)do extra cardio by picking up the pace when I take my dog on her daily romp in the woods.
3)keep a Christmas Challenge 2005 journal to track my progress.
4)get looooootttss of sleep.
5)sign up to the gym in my hometown for my stay there
6) drink water like it's going out of style when the beer is broken out..
7)Get protien bars to nibble on out of my pocket when im at parties with goodies..
8) say NO to the christmas bread that packed 5-7lbs on me last christmas
9) STAY MOTIVATED AND GET IT DONE THIS TIME!!!
10) free day is free day.. i do want to still have a good holiday!
Anyone else doing a mini challenge to get them through the holidays?? I hear lots of people are losing drive.. maybe those individuals can do a mini challenge with me. Just a thought!
All I can think about is how good it will feel to make it through the holidays without losing focus and undoing my hard work up until now!! Merry christmas to ME!!!!

We are going to Virginia for Christmas/New Year's. That's an 11 hour car trip and I'm the only driver! So I think I will have to make sure the day I leave is a free day because it would be crazy to eat every two hours, water intake will be a challenge (who wants to pee that much on the car trip?!) and I don't think I want to exercise at 3 am before we leave the frozen state of Maine. I am bringing my dumbbells with me and my brother already owns a weight bench so I will do my workouts at my parents' house no problem. For Cardio I will just do a video or jog or use the stairs. My mom said we might be able to go to her gym though and I am hoping I get to SWIM (that would be so awesome)!!!
So I am just going to do my best - with two loooong car trips and a few parties while I'm there I will just have to have a couple of free meals I think, stick to the workouts, etc.
Since this is body for LIFE, I'm not worried about it.

We are making a 22hr drive home next week and I have also devised a mini challenge for myself. Going home always presents obstacles for me, and I DONT want this year the be the same as last. I have already had a run in with holiday cookies so my goal is to stay away from the bread and sweets and stick the the meat and veggies as best as I can! The hardest parts will be the days driving...very little water and sandwiches. (cant drink too much water, my husband refuses to stop every 90min:) Good luck WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

I am in for your mini challenge. I would like to get through the holidays without loosing momentum. My first challenge ends on January 8th, I have realized that I might not end as strong as I might have if it had not been right at Christmas, but it doesnt mean that I have to abandon all of the good work I have done up to this point. I am going to stay motivated and eat as clean as I can except on my free day.
I have a Christmas party at my favorite restaurant on Saturday and will take Saturday as my free day. and several other party events, but will eat before hand or take fruit or veggies to each of these. Then Christmas dinner at my mother in laws will be a free day, and after that I am back on track to finish strong.
We can do this!!!!

Sweet let's do it then.. Snowboardingfairy, we are not any stronger than you... TRUST ME... But to be honest that is the whole reason i posted this.. to lay it out.. and make myself and anyone else that wants to do it accountable. No one said this would be easy and it certainly will be QUITE the opposite (it scares me really:)).. but i'd imagine everyone knows how bad they want to achieve their goals. I will just keep asking myself is that cookie worth it.. is it worth it to eat that cake when I have been working so darn hard to gain a better body? I will just think how good it will feel when the holidays are over and I am not set back by 5lbs of fat! the momentum alone I get from that will push me to the next level!! This time of year is as hard as it gets.. just remember we are all in this together and we definately CAN do this!!!!

I will not say who I am voting for or promoting, but I will say that I have talked to Cheryl a number of times and she is more than what she appears here(if you can believe that). I have told everyone she reminds me of Kelly Adair, who I have also meet. Cheryl is a better person on the inside than the outside, and she has an amazing outside. With that being said, I think the other 5 are great and all deserve to be in the top 6. I know first hand what they are going through, and I am just glad that the voting struggle is over for me.

I noticed that after eh first day or 2 of voting that they inserted the disclaimer that the judges have the final say in who wins.

I thought the voting for the top 6 was great - generated heaps of interest and was kinda fun to check out how your favourite was doing.
But I think EAS should make the final decision on the champion.
I just hope that all six are enjoying this time and not feeling too nervous about it all - every one of them is amazing and I wish they could all be named champions!
I wonder what Bill Phillips thinks of this. After all, he was the one who sold the lamborghini and bought a bunch of convertible somethings (as you can tell, I'm a bit of a car enthusiast, ha ha).

I am just feeling great today - I'm surprised I every got dressed this morning. I swear I can see changes and I kept checking myself out. There's lines on my stomach and they aren't just stretch marks!!!
It started last night in spinning class, as I was sweating and dying I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I noticed a change in my chest (above the boobs mind you!) There's muscle there and it's looking pretty lean. I found myself concentrating on that through class and the flabby arms right next to them. Knowing if I keep working I'll notice changes there too!
My stats for yesterday were:
Water 9
#1 - Egg Whites w/ Salsa, WW Toast w/ ICBINB
#2 - Luna Bar
#3 - Mom's Turkey Enchiladas
#4 - String Cheese and Banana
#5 - Spiced Pork w/ Wild Mushrooms, Brown Rice & Green Beans
#6 - SF Jello w/ FF Cool Whip
I did my Spinning Class yesterday and my physical therapy for my knee:
Leg Extensions 1x15x100 Left and Right
Squat - 30/25
Step - R-15 L- 3 (still pain and that's the good knee!)

Thanks everyone!! I got a lot of compliments today too from people that I hadn't seen in a couple of weeks and that made me feel great too. I blew it a bit with cookies today, but they gave me an awful headache and I actually spit back out a cookie because I didn't like the way it tasted and I didn't want to waste calories cheating on something I didn't like! Ooooh I need help! But I still feel good, I'm ready to go to the gym as soon as my hubby gets off work.

I thought by posting this to everyone it will help me get back on track. This is what happened. I had Sat. as a free day Hubby and I went to a party. I got so drunk. His friends kept pushing the shots on me. I woke up on Sunday with the worse hang over. So Sunday I didn't workout or eat right.
Sunday night my 5month old was up I had 2hours of sleep. I didnt yet again workout or eat properly. Today. I woke with the worse migraine headace behind my right eye. So bad it makes my stomach hurt. So no workout or meals.
I have got to get back on track. I need motivation and inspiration today. I must get on track. My head still is killing me. I need help!!!!!!
Oh and my brothers girlfriend is reading my BFL book and has cried several times during it. I'm her motivation to do BFL. I can not let that slip. I can not let myself, her, or my family down.

You can be each others motivation. Since you loaned her the book, you have to keep being her motivation. Obviously she saw something good happening with you. You need to keep her motivated.(I don't mean to put a lot of pressure on you, but it could help you out in the long run.) Even on your freeday, You should limit you alcohol intake. It will keep you from losing weight. and eventually it caused your migraine. Just look at some of the photos of the people here. For one,check out averismommie since she is one of the BFL finalist.

Just jump back in as if nothing happen, you can't makeup for the days you've lost. Hopefully the magrine will go away soon ( I used to get them, haven't had one since starting BFL)and you will eat clean and work up a sweat. Then on Jan 2nd join the 4 week mini challenge.

The deatails will come in the next day or so. I need to sit down and actually write out the rules. The mini challenge is a 4 week challenge is a team challenge where weight loss, eating clean including the all important water drinking and workingout equals a certain amount of points. Each week you report your stats to your captain, who in turns will report them to me and will be posted into team standings, who knows we may even have prizes.

Tonight is my first social event on a non-free day since starting BFL on 11/28. I'm nervous! I have no idea what they're serving, so I haven't been able to plan what I'll eat. Eating before the event isn't really an option because the party is at my husband's supervisor's house, and I don't really want to insult him or his wife by not eating their food. I know I can make good choices as long as there are good choices available. If everything is in a cream sauce or deep fried, I'm out of luck!
One thing that helps is I had a killer UBWO yesterday and am still suffering from a slight case of noodle arms--that should make it much more difficult to drag too much food towards my mouth!!
Think good thoughts for me!

You could always make today your free day instead of your regular free day. That's what I do whenever I have something like your social event going on - it's easier than insulting your husband's boss by not eating. Also, just limit your portions. You'll be okay!

I do the same thing...change my free day. Or do 3 free meals that week instead of a full out free day.

I had some down time with one of my classes today, and they wanted to watch a video. So, I put on Body of Work for them. I was amazed. Not only did they not complain, this is typical amoungst teenagers, but they wanted to finish watching it tomorrow. Awesome.

When you feel like posting something mean - drop and do 20 push ups.
When you are pissed off about a post - eat some FF cottage cheese.
When you don't like the tone of a post - eat a slice of WW bread and a glass of water.
If you have something nasty to say - keep it to yourself.
Focus on what's important. All this negative banter is a waste of time and energy. The intent of this site is motivation and support.
I used to come to this site for motivation and support several times a day, sometimes for hours, now it is like watching a car wreck.
Please take a moment to realize that many come here for motivation and support.
If I am off base - feel free to bash. If you agree, feel free to comment.
I just hate the thought that someone may come here and be turned of by the BS and not get the helpful information that is here.

I do not care what everyone thinks. I may upset a few people but so be it. I have listen to people tell me what they think I should be doing.
I had a goal to run a marathon in January, now that is gone, I wanted to have a six pack by the 18th of this month (my big 40), now that is gone. I wanted to be in a size 34 jeans ( wranglers, you know who wanted that as well), now that is gone.
I do not blame anyone but myself, I have listen to other people tell me what to do and how to do it, and you know what, no one knows what works best for me, but me. I spent Sunday printing out my work out book and started back to the one thing that WILL work best for me. That is the work out as Bill had laid out. The eating that Bill has laid out.
I thank you all for the nice comments that you had for me when I though I might have to have surgey, but from here on out, I would like to only hear one thing from those who choose to make any comments to me. That would be " stop your cring and get off your butt and get to the gym" or " stop your belly aching and but domwn the foods your not allowed to be eating".
I hope that those who choose to share the second challenage with me will understand where I am comming from. We can all make up reason why not to work out or eat right but that is just it, who are we kidding, who are we hurting, not someone on the other end of the internet we are hurting ourselves.
We all know what it takes to make thing change, so please join me in NO MORE EXCUSES and cut out all the BS and get to it.

Herbed Pork with Sautéed Wild Mushrooms
Rub steak seasoning and thyme over pork. Add pork to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side or until done. Combine broth and cornstarch, stirring with a whisk. Add mushrooms and broth mixture to pan. Bring to a boil; cook 1 minute or until slightly thickened.

Apple and Horseradish-Glazed Salmon
Combine apple jelly, chives, horseradish, vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt, stirring well with a whisk.
Sprinkle salmon with 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add salmon, and cook 3 minutes. Turn salmon over; brush with half of apple mixture. Wrap handle of skillet with foil; bake at 350° for 5 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Brush with remaining apple mixture.

I want to look and see if there's either some low sugar, simply fruit or something similiar . . .ooooh, or I just had a thought to try applesauce instead. That's the only part that I think could probably be more healthy.

You didn't disappoint.
I have sat back and bit my tongue on a number of threads today where you basically ridiculed the fact that I find that you don't conduct yourselves in a way that is acceptable to the majority of people on tracker (let alone the majority of people in polite civilization).
Did you read the "crossing the line" thread. You were out voted. It didn't even take into account the huge number of Private Messages I got from people who were too nervous about putting themselves out there and saying that they agreed with what people were saying on the thread.
If you want to get into a pissing match..I'm up for it. This nonsense on this board has gone on for far too long. I for one, won't stand by and let one VERY SMALL group of people run Tracker into the ground.

That thread and all the other little jabs on all all the other threads about not being dignified enough to participate were all designed to belittle the fact that I had called you out on your conduct and found it lacking. You claim to be sorry for offending people, but you show it by creating a thread to ridicule what you claim to be sorry for. It rings of insincerity in my eyes. I'm not buying it.
So, you are telling me that I am mistaken that you saw what I had put on this thread...and decided to comment the way you did.

Moggie, I agree with you and am not afraid to put my name out there. I read Mellie's apology on another thread, congratulated her and then was reading her thread and 69's titled "Warning - Naked women" and wanted to retract what I said the Mellie. She sure had everyone fooled with her apology didn't she.

Hi everyone! I just posted pics of myself and I must say they are scary. I'm hoping I can find a lot of support here, I sure do need it. Most of the time it seems like everyone is wonderful on this site, but lately there seem to be a few problems. I'm just hoping that everyone can get along and we can all help each other with whatever we may need. I'm looking forward to getting some great advice and to finally sticking with my BFL transformation.

You can do it jenst00. I just started a 4 week challenge myself to get me through dec.
Its hard but you can do it if you set your mind to it. Just take it one day at a time and it will come.
It took me 8 weeks before I felt the difference. I had good days and bad but you need to move on when you've had bad.

Don't worry, this site will come back around. There are a lot of us that have had great challenges and don't hesititate to post your questions and concerns. You can do this. If I can, I know you can!! Its a rollercoaster but in the end it is TOTALLY worth it!

Stick with us, stick with the plan and you can do this. Don't beat yourself up about little slips - just get back on track as soon as possible.
