All,
I have the best blender for work. It holds 12 ounces and is about a foot tall including the base. It is the perfect size for a desk drawer. I bought it at Walmart for less than $15 dollars. I not only use it for shakes, but for omelets and sauces. I loved it so much that I have one at work and one at home.

Good for you Tigermuscle! That is so funny! Once when I was travelling, I had forgotten my running shoes so I went to the hotel gym barefoot (no one said anything though I'm extra glad I didn't drop any weights). Best, P

Okay, I hope that you all don't think too different about me after this post. Just a couple:
1. I have eaten protein powder, creatine and HMB powder dry before. (I had to chase the hmb with a sip of water)
1. I was at a meeting for work and there was no foo or water permitted and it was 8 hrs with one Lunch break and 2 bathroom breaks. I kept a collapsable bowl in my briefcase with a spoon and two pack or myoplex. at the bleak I went to the bathroom got a little water and hid in a break room and scarfed down the myoplex (almost a pudding consisteny because of the lck of water).
3. When I was in college (1st challenge 1998) four of us use to cram into my buddies pickup and drive 2 hrs to Delaware (eas supps where very cheap there for some reason and no sales tax) and we would fill the bed of the truck to the rim with hundreds of dollars worth of myo, beta, creatine ect...
4. When I was a big drinker in college and on this program, I would take myoplex to parties and make mixed drinks with it (I was 19 and at least I got my nutrients damn it). LOL no wonder it didn't work that well the first time.
Thats all that come to mind now, I am sure I can think of more (this is my fifth challenge and the first three where in college when I was kind of well you get my point)

Just heard yesterday, "Jacquie, you're obsessed!!" because I was talking about lower body workout day! I've also been hearing a lot lately that I'm too skinny! Ugh!
My son comes home from college and asks my husband where I was... and his reply is "she's either working out or on the computer!" He found me... on Tracker!

I am totally obsessed, not so much worried about the calorie counting but I take water with me everywhere, and don't like to share it because... gasp... then I wouldn't know how much has been consumed.
Also put glutamine powder in my water ;-)

This is similar to how I did my HIIT when my treadmill was still working... I tried to beat my previous distance each time I worked out. That's what made it interesting, because otherwise cardio can be pretty boring. And I made my own intervals because my treadmill didn't have any programs. Now that I have a gym membership, I can try it again!

Cerdes,
I think you are a bit off on that. Water has little no nothing to do with the deaths of ecstasy users. The few documented cases of death are attributed to acctually dancing themselves into a heat stroke. I believe there has been a couple of cases where water was a secondary factor but fromt he things I have read they were most likley goign ot die anyway due to thier core body temperature reaching upwards of 108 degress.

As a former (and hopefully soon to be again ) marathoner, I get really scared when the "too much water" story gets a lot of press. Its REALLY hard for one to overdrink themselves into nutritional deficiency. We are all probably safe, and I think another article I once read said we are all in a state of dehydration most of the time. Geez, what can you read these days?!

Ok I just got off the phn. with my hubby who just had his Doctor's appt for Cedar fever shots. Well, since Thanksgiving and the pleasure of sleeping on one of those blow-up mattresses he developed a severe pain in the neck (not from me this time). And it has not gone away and he asked the doctor about it while he was there. Now stay with me because this is where it gets good ..... muhahhahahaha
The doc asked him how old he was. He answered well I am 30. Then the doctor said as you get older it is important that you take care of yourself and exercise an NOT live sedentary.... muhahahahahah yes I am loving this as he is telling me this.... because I have been saying the same thing for a freaking year almost! The doctor said when you start getting older and getting "odd" sprains and strains in different places that is a sign that you need to get a healthy active lifestyle doing none other than lifting weights!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO!
This is great news because he is just going to try and get in shape. No BFL program because he became really disheartened with it because he is one of those naturally skinny people and he would not give up the intense cardio to gain muscle. So honestly it was his own fault. Though I have tried and tried to get him back in to the gym he has ran as far away because he was pissed to see he lost after 4 weeks of working out with BFL and losing inches. Once again because he was doing way too much cardio...... My hubby is VERY thin.
So with this discussion with his doctor he called me right away with the news and in a round about way he asked me for help with a routine for him! And to make a long story short I AM SO HAPPY! Because just last night I told him I could not imagine living life w/out you. And I was thinking to myself how bad I wanted him to be living a healthier life-style. I guess somebody up above heard me thinking and worrying.....;-) YEA I AM SO HAPPY!
Whoops sorry so long I am just so excited and happy for us!
Hugs-T

That's great news! I've noticed with men (MOST men, anyway), you can't tell them yourself because they won't believe you, but if someone else tells them, like a doctor, then it's advice gold, lol. Glad he's taking it seriously!
Body for Life Forum Message by T~N~T (897 posts) at 10:36 AM
Oh unfortunately I don't think us "Working Out" together will happen. He says I am too intense when I work out for him. I think it is his nice way of saying he likes to work alone plus our schedules totally collide. ;-( Maybe I can get him to come with me sometime baby steps hahaha right.
But he does want me to get a workout routine for him. I think this might develop into something more as time goes on. He has always wanted to develop a physique like Anthony Ellis. So I am gonna give him the blue print and let it take on a life of it's own. But if he's working out he's EATING RIGHT too. LMAO HE cannot have his cake and eat it too! Grocery bill s goign to be insane again LOL. I am buying 2 big cheap Turkeys after Christmas ROFLMAO. See I am already getting carried away..... muhahahahahaha
Body for Life Forum Message by Flash (762 posts) at 11:34 AM
I'm glad he's listening to his Dr. And cool that he has such an expert in the house to help him develop a workout plan!
The 30s have been eye-opening for me. (I'm 35.) It's a time when you start getting a preview of all that goes along with the aging process. I feel SO much better now that I'm eating right and exercising. I think the older we get, the bigger the difference nutrition and exercise can make.
Body for Life Forum Message by Blondie26 (169 posts) at 11:46 AM

I like to consintrate on the muscle I work.
I'm glad he is going to listen to the doctor. Thats great! A new year has already started for the both of you.

LMAO Tracy! Yes, there is chocolate. The black label simply means that the color of the label is black. There is another version, the "natural" version, and I believe its label is tan colored. Don't get that!!! Get the black label, chocolate flavor -- scotch not included. ;o)

Wow. My life is pretty boring compared to all of you.
I will say that I live in a TINY little house, and I just LOVE it. All 950 square feet of it. Any bigger, and it would be a pig sty. I really hate large homes.
Other than that, my bad habit is over--comitting myself. Currentl list of activities includes: K9 Search & Rescue, Fire Department Auxiliary, Women's Philanthropy Group, Ham Radio, Emergency Management Agency, Church, I also just signed up to be on the Disaster Assistance team in my county for the Red Cross. Oh, and I'm going to be in EMT school this coming Spring.
And I also find time to work out and actually go to work. (Not that I'm working while I'm here....as this post is pointing out) :)

This is good, but I do wonder where it ends. Kind of along the lines of the guy trying to take the word "God" off of everything... If I'm the one person in 900,000 who is allergic to Rice Chex, and I buy something that has Rice Chex in it that doesn't say it clearly on the front of the package, but does say in the ingredients list that Rice Chex are in there, can I sue so they have to now list ALL ingredients in plain english on the front as well as the ingredients list?
Or am I missing something? I just think that if I am allergic to peanuts (or Rice Chex, lol), I'm going to make damn sure myself that there are no peanuts in the foods I buy before I buy them.

I used to suffer from extreme anxiety attacks all through my late teens, 20's and part of my 30's. I had a major depressive episode 4 years ago (which is when I began exercise therapy). To this day, if I miss exercising for 2 days in a row, the anxiety creeps up on me. It feels like an elephant sitting on my chest and that I am going to die immediately. It is a terrible feeling like you have lost all control (body and mind). I am still on meds for depression because I am really afraid of going back to that horrible place again because I feel so good now. There can be chemical, hormonal, or situational reasons for it. That's why it is called the "black dog"; it creeps up on you without you noticing until it bites you in the a**. Rest assured that you are not alone and there are lots of people that can help you including all the great people here.

I would quietly not give up my time. I wouldn't make a big deal about it, but if it is a recurring thing and this person always expects others to make his life run smoothly, I wouldn't want to encourage that. Now, if it were a one-time thing, and I didn't have set plans for all of my vacation time, yeah, I might contribute. But I don't think you're a scrooge. I have signed a contract to sell two of my scripts to a film company. The contracts are signed and the money is in place. The deal is for more than $500,000. Here is the snag. They need me to register the scripts in the European Union. This is for legal reasons to protect both myself and them. It is needing to be registered in the EU, because that is where production will take place.
The snag is the registrar in the EU. It is going to take $6,500 to complete the registrations. Without those registrations, the sell will not take place and I will be out $500,000 and lose my first script sell. I do not want to see this happen. I am desperate. I am offering $30,000 to anyone who can get me the $6,500 before the deadline expires. To all those who are seriously interested in this offer, email me, I have more specifics and can email you copies of the contracts if you would like to see them. Get a loan, get into your savings, whatever. I am desperate as the deadline is Dec. 31. Again, I am offering $30,000 to anyone who can get me the $6,500. Tell your friends as well, if they are interested have them contact me. I will give the the $30,000 and you will get a $5,000 finders fee.
I am desperate. This is my life's work. Please help me to fulfill this dream.
Why don't you get a loan yourself? Do you have any family or friends that could lend you the money? Sell a car, take a second mortgage, sell a kidney (jk)? I would love to help out but I only lend money to people that I have know in person. I believe that you are a good person and want to make your dreams come true but there has to be another route for you to get money, there are just too many internet scams now days (like I said I am sure you are sincere) but my advice is to try getting a loan or have a close friend or your gf get a loan for you and then pay them back.
I dont want to sound negative either, but giving someone that much money is a very high risk. The deal sounds great, however, I think you'd be better off going to a bank, because then you wouldn't owe anyone 30,000...just the amount + interest you borrow. I am sure you are sincere also, but this day in age, its hard to trust anyone. I hope you understand and dont take this the wrong way. Good Luck to you, and I wish you the best!
Merry Christmas & Have a Happy New Year!
I agree with the others. I think you need to look into another way to do this. You're asking an awful lot from people you don't know.
Sorry. It just sounds fishy to me.
If it looks, smells and swims like a fish it probably is.
Why would anyone want to pay 30k for 6.5k when a bank can give you 10-12 percent rate in the worst case is beyond me. And if you already have a signed contract, why not use it as your collateral? Anonymous posters on a fitness board are not a source to finance enterprise ventures.
To answer all of your questions about going to a bank. I have tried. My credit is atrocious from past mistakes. Trust me, if I could do it that way I would, and I have tried.
ColdHeat- I've tried using the contract as collateral, but they won't accept it. It has no current value, like a house or a car would. Why would I offer 30k? Because I am desperate.
I've been to my friends and gf. They have tried, but for various reasons were unable to get the loan. My gf has no real credit history and was only approved for $1,000. But, oh well. I'll keep looking.
As a suggestion, get the buyers to advance you the $6.5k. If they are willing to buy your scripts for $500,000, they should be willing to front you $6,500. If they will not, then drop your price $30k if they will take care of the registration fee.
See?? Now that's what I call usin' your noodle. I'm thinkin amkazen's advice is worthy of the $5,000 finders fee.
Ooooh! I'll do it!!!!
I just have to wait for the guy to come back with the ownership papers for that Golden bridge that I bought, and if he's a noshow by the time your deadline nears I'm sure that I can turn around and sell that oceanfron property in Arizona that I bought on-line a couple weeks ago! Email me at Imasucker@takemeforallI'vegot.com.
OMG zanie....you are a riot!!
I don't give telemarketers this much of my time when they call me at home.
I am not in a position to help anyone with such a significant amount of money. I am a little upset with some of the responses to this post. It is on an OT thread and he is looking for help. If don't want to - don't, but don't be cruel. We are here to support each other. There have been posts for prayers, donations for hurricane relief, solicitations for other competitions and nobody complains. If there is a chance that there is a person out there in Tracker Land that likes to invest in new talent, we should be able to find out. This is a safe place for people to communicate. We just went through a tough time with non supportive posts - please let's not go there again.
Thank you for the posts that give sound advice to vonkarolinas. You are what the tracker is all about.
Vonkarolinas - good luck with your quest for support and good luck with you new BFL Challenge in the new year.Thread: Geez, I can't turn my back for a second (305 Views)
I've been gone for about a month, I come back to find some people I used to talk to have removed themselves over stuff said in the message boards. And other gone, who I never talked to but still over stuff in the message boards. You people do know this is Christmas, right? Where's the love man, where's the love?
Now, I am probably going to be gone for a little while longer, but I will be checking back here. Nobody is allowed to leave or start any fights. Is that clear?
I wasn't involved, but I feel the same way. I also hate to see that you won't be around. What gives?
Me, personally, I don't want anyone to leave
however, I can't condone others feelings that this forum should be held to a "ALL motivation, ALL inspiration, and NO playing around forum"

When you leave a place or an organization because you don't like how it's going or how you're being treated--you have just lost all power to ever change things for the better. Almost all organizations end up being a compromise of the various values of its members. But it must tolerate the expression of the views of those members. Most of those who left were either offended that someone would dare to suggest that what they were doing was inappropriate, or because they were deeply offended by the "inappropriate" behavior. Whose fault was it? Depends on your perspective I guess. But the boards will be a better place if everyone stays, and if everyone treats everyone else with respect, not nastiness. Whether you agree or disagree with what another has to say, there's absolutely no reason to attack that person's beliefs, or motives or personality. An ad hominem attack (attacking a person rather than dealing with the issue) is truly a cowardly act.
michiganmike, these are the best words written to date on this subject. Thanks. Everyone should stay and help make the board into what it can be: the greatest BFL site. Your perspective comment is right on the money because each of us read the posts with our backgrounds and current state of mind that day influencing our interpretation of written words. Are we mad at someone else and then read a post? Perhaps what happened to us in our childhood or at work a few years back affects our view of a post and causes us to see it in a completely different light than what the author intended. All our experiences shape our responses in the here & now.

This is terrible news. He was only 18.

That is just terrible news. So young. Having 2 sons right around his age I can ONLY Imagine the devestation of his parents and siblings....muchless other relatives and friends.
I particularly like the end quote;
In light of news like this, things that seemed so important yesterday are only a footnote today.
It truly does change your perspective.
Oh, how sad. As if it's not horrible enough to lose a loved one at any time, it just seems like it's that much harder when it happens around the holidays.
Thoughts and prayers for his family.
it makes your put things in perspective for sure.
My mom called me this morning and told me the news, so sad. We loved Tony while he was here and feel like he is part of our family ya know?
So sad - I will be keeping them in my prayers...
Very sad. I know Coach Dungy really loved his kids. From what I hear, they were a close family.
People here in Indy are freaking out.

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with scissors lodged in his temple and a bat jammed up his *** while he is on fire.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Thanks for the laugh!
That makes the most sense of anything I have read in years ...

I think when I've got myself really riled up (hormonal, annoyed at the end of my rope etc.), the tongue lashing I'd inflict would have the man wishing he was snuggled up in The Burning Bed.Thread: Inspiring my mom.... (64 Views)
Tigermuscle's post got me thinking about this...I want to inspire my MOM.
I have been trying to help my mom work out and eat right forever. Problem is, she underestimates what she can do. She used to belong to my gym and she would walk at the lowest setting on the treadmill. Now she has an elliptical in her home but she does the same thing. She refuses to use the 2 lb. dumbell set we got her last christmas.... instead she does some easy workout video that apparently instructs you to lay on the floor a lot (it is not an aerobics video... I think it's beginner mat pilates.)Then she will go on a diet.... and put my dad on the same diet.... but she never quite gets it right. She'll do atkins and say she cant have potatoes or rice with dinner but then has a brownie the next day. This summer she actually let me make a running program for her. She stuck with it for 2 weeks but then quit because we had a fight about something unrelated. Easy way out? Why waste so much time dieting and exercising the wrong way with no results?
Soooo... what do you guys think? I know you cant make someone "want it" so I might be wasting my time.... should I just let it go???
Gentle pushes and setting an example is probably the best way. I wish my parents were in the same town I am so I could do this. As it stands, they know I have lost weight but have not seen it.
keep gently encouraging and I bet eventually you'll have your Mom motivated.
I don't know that you should let it go, but she has to want to do it. I think the best thing you can do is be a great example for her. My mom has tried every diet on the planet and even joined a gym once, but quit after a disagreement with the staff over vacuuming while she was working out. She honestly believes nothing works for her... or she did. Since I started BFL she's been interested, but not enough to actually try it. She bought a home gym but hasn't used it much. She and my stepdad said they looked for BFL in the stores but hadn't found it yet... Riiiiight. ;) So I bought them BFL and EFL for their birthday (their bdays are one day apart). And what my mother said was, "I only hope I can show the same willpower and determination that you have!"
So she's noticing that something works. And she's willing to try it. I haven't asked her about it since I sent the books, but I'll be there to see her tomorrow and I am guessing she'll have questions.
Help her however you can, but don't take it personally if she isn't ready yet. :)
Thanks for your responses!
The problem I run into with setting an example is that she says "but I am older and haven't been working out all my life like you have.... I have had 2 children...."
Well, here I am fit after one kid....maybe that will help. :)
I wish she could meet GET HER DONE!
I wish you the best of luck. For my mom it was seeing my results and me being so diligent with my diet and exercise that she said I am gonna do this again. So it was not hard.
I know I was very lucky in that manner, thats why I wanted to wish you the best of luck. But don't give up just keep trying gently. And if they want to just start eating right then it is a step in the right direction anything to get teh ball rolling. Hey maybe a talk from the doctor? hehehe I wish you the best. Thread: Pro Bodybuilders wanted for murder? (189 Views)
Check this out.... I just found this posted on the other (very cool) forum I visit (TheElitePhysique.com). I don't know how to make this a link, but copy and paste it to see it. 2 big name professional bodybuilders are wanted for questioning in connection with a murder. WOW!
Stef :-)
http://www.kvvu.com/Global/story.asp?S=4246749
Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan??? OMG
What happened here? I sure hope they are not the people that did this? I actually have photos of Kelly hanging up in my room?
We can only hope, but that murdered girl and her family deserve justice...
OMG Kelly Ryan!
I too have admired her for some time.
Annette
WHOA? Hmmmm maybe this is why she was not in The Olympia this year? WOW this is a shock!
Holy that is shocking!
Wow. I hope it's not true!
You've gotta be kidding! That is unbelievable! I wonder how this story is going to unravel.
This is very shocking! Kelly Ryan seems/looks like such a nice person. Looks can be deceiving, though. My question is why? Why would someone go that far, to actually murder another human being?
Whoa...they don't know where the suspects have fled to??? OMG, this is really shocking! What the hell brought them to the point of killing someone??? Wow.
Yea it is shocking def. seems like a weird thing and out of character for Kelly ..... THere are tons of scenarios that could have played out in this one.
I will be anxious to hear the outcome of this one...
I mean yes it will be interesting...
Kelly is apparently wanted for accessory to murder. Just- wow.
Here is some more re-lated news on another site that is very reputable and I like....
http://www.getbig.com/news/2005-04/122105titusnow.htm
Actually, they're not 'wanted for questioning'. There is a warrant out for their arrest, with substantial evidence linking Titus to the crime. Ryan's warrant is only as an accessory to murder. The murdered woman was living with them and apparently having an affair with Titus.
Then again, warrants have been issued erroneously, as everyone knows, and people are innocent until proven guilty, regardless of how it looks. Personally, I think it sounds stupid - to strangle someone and burn them in the trunk of your car. VIN number? Hello? I can't believe anyone would be that stupid, but they just might be.
It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.Thread: Grrr! (64 Views)

To me, popcorn never tastes as good as it smells. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but it never pays off the way it smells like it will. ;) Protein pudding is good -- ya got any of that?
True. Coffee also smells better than it tastes.
I don't have protein pudding. I'll have to get some!
The oatmeal and chocolate protein powder does sound good, actually. And, just think how good that popcorn will taste on your free day..the anticipation!! :)

Some of you might recall a thread I posted eons ago about considering a change in career. Here's the background:
I have an English Lit degree and have, since college, worked mostly as a copy editor for newspapers around the U.S. (following hubby). The past 16 months, I've been a SAHM (housemommy) and have been pining for a new career.
Well, I finally did it. I enrolled in the local community college and today took a placement test for math classes so I can get pre-reqs out of the way and pursue a job as:
da-da-da-da! A registered nurse!
The math placement test I took this a.m. was a hoot, to say the least. The last time I did any thinking involving numbers that didn't include my checkbook, the time or percentages was ... oh ... 1994! Thank you, liberal arts education. So I was darn proud to test well enough to get placed in the "Intermediate Algebra" class. :-D
And as if that weren't good enough, I went from the test to the dentist for some major filling repairs. By scheduling the two back-to-back, I was sure not to be too freaked out by one or the other. Algebraic equations, shots in the gums .... hmmm ...
Anywho, that's my boring story of accomplishment for the day. I know there are atleast, well, 1.5 of you out there who will read this and know why I bothered posting it.
To the rest of y'all ... I couldn't have been more specific in my thread title. Learn to judge a book by its cover. ;-)
Just think about all the cool nutritional stuff your gonna learn, and now every time I have an ailment, guess who I am coming too...lol...well there is 1 that read it, whose gonna be the .5?
Seriously though K...good for you!!

Good luck in nursing school. I teach basic A&P and Medical Terminology to LPN students. Feel free to PM with any Anatomy questions. With your BFL experience, you do just fine in the musculoskeletal chapters!
You go girl. I tried to be a nurse but I'm too emotional of a person and would have burned out before I got started. It takes a lot of work and a lot of guts Congrats. Now if could get up the nerve to go after my dream job.
This is great. I sure wish I had the nerve or financial capability to make a change and do what I want to do. I am really impressed with you being able to do so. Congratulations on following through with what sounds to me to be a dream of yours.
Darn it, I wanted to be the .5!
Good for you, K, I am so proud of you for taking that first step. So when do your classes start? And how soon can we start coming to you for medical advice? ;)

Thread: The free day kills me (255 Views)
i've found that free day can become a viscous cycle. it works differently for everyone. i think you have to look at the free day concept as something that can be molded to fit your needs. just like the rest of the bfl program. it's a good guideline, but no program will work 100% for every individual. i've found that a free meal or two spread out during the week works much better than a whole free day. but, that's just what works for me.
Well I for one am an advocate of free day. I believe there is some good in it. Now that being said, I think there still needs to be some control over it. I have been reading the 6 finalists blogs and they are VERY good. Russell Pendergrass starting taking free days AFTER his first challenge and lost more weight faster then he had on his challenge. He had a blog awhile back about planning your free day meals just as you would your BFL meals. I am going to post what he says but it will be long so bear with me.. Oh and MaryV, he mentioned this exact post ;) So here is his response....
I have been following many of the comments on Tracker and the Guestbook regarding an inability to control free day eating. MaryV started a dialogue about free days with her 12 December entry entitled: The free day kills me.
The BFL support group gave some excellent suggestions as well as sharing with MaryV how they handle the same temptations. Being a convert to the free day concept myself, I thought I’d share my experience and then summarize the advice that MaryV received.
I did this last 12-week challenge without taking a free day or a free meal for the entire 12 weeks. Part of the reason for that was an injury in week one set me back and I thought by foregoing the free day I would be able to “catch up”. Another reason was because abstinence was easier for me than temperance, i.e., it is easier for me to forego bad foods altogether than it is for me to control how much of them I eat.
At the end of my 12-week Challenge, I decided I would start taking my free day – BUT, I decided I would plan it carefully, prepare for it, and execute the plan without deviation. I started out by allowing myself two bags of Kettle Popcorn, four cookies and two pieces of pizza on my free days. Additionally, on the first free day of the month, I allow myself a pint of Haagen-Daz ice cream – which I nursed all day long. Within two and a half weeks of implementing this plan, I shed an additional 10 lbs. I was amazed. I was so impressed with the results that I purchased a website and put out an ad for taking a free day. You can check it out at www.russpendergrass.com.
If executed with temperance, the free day actually helps you lose weight faster. The key is to know yourself – and your weaknesses. I stay away from Oreo cookies and chocolate on my free days. As many of the BFL supporters counseled MaryV, it’s just as important to plan your free day as it is to plan the rest of your meals for the week.
Free day is just as much an exercise in self-mastery as the rest of the Body-for-LIFE program.
Plan, prepare and execute a temperate free day and you will know you will be able to keep your new Body-for-LIFE - for life.
Russ
Our 1st free day in our 1st challenge back in July 2005 was truly a free day. We ate everything in sight, and then we felt so stuffed and sick afterwards we have not done it since. Our free day currently consists of 1 free meal, and we are sticking to the BFL type of meals the other meals of the day. We just do not have the desire to overeat like we used to.
So my advice is try it the way we do. Eat 1 or 2 meals on your free day of what you want but stick to BFL the rest of the time, and see how that works for you. Everyone is different and this may not work for you but it might.
I think everyone goes all out on that very first free day........and it creates a food hangover, or it did for me.
I have a free breakfast, a BFL lunch and a free supper
worked pretty good for me so far.
Free day works for me. I wouldn't be able to avoid temptation during the rest of the week without it.
And opposite to some of you, by the end of free day I'm sick of all that unhealthy food and ready to eat clean again.
I guess we're all different and need to figure out how to make BFL work best for each of us!Thread: PERFECT BFL Pancakes (96 Views)
where do you get orange zest? what area of the store?
ok..if I monkey around with the oats to get it down to about 40 carbs for the "two servings", the protein, fat, and carb ratio is perfect for me as one meal..I felt kind of funny doing it...but I ate both of the "servings"
orange zest is just when you peel the top of the citrus skin. they sell tools called zesters, or even better is a microplane grater.
To get zest...just use your grater and grate the skin of the orange or lemon. The skin has lots of citus oil. It has much more flavor than the orange itself.
I have a zester which has the perfect sized holes. I use zest a lot in cooking and baking.
I also experimented with pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon and ground giner). Not too bad. I added a slice of apple and a pinch of brown sugar.
These "pancakes" are really dense, filling, satisfying yet they are just a perfect portion of protein and carb (the good kind) with no fat. I really feel like I'm indulging.
Oh forgot to mention. On getting the zest, you don't want to go too deep. Just run your grater gently over the top, pulling up the yellow or orange top of the skin but don't go so deep that you are getting the white part underneath.

I'm in, I'm in. Crone set me up on team 4 - WHOOP WHOOP!!
Crone - just out of curiousity, how will the playing field be evened out if there are different numbers of people on each team?
Haven't figured that out yet, but since I'm an accountant, if I can't figure it out no one will. Actually if I could get to more players, it will be even and that's what I'm hoping for
Yeah, that would be best...less work involved, that's for sure! We were averaging one team at the end of another challenge because a player was MIA (not by her choice), but it would be best and most fair to have even number of players on each team.
Maybe there could be a sub list after the teams get evened out. Inevitably, some people will probably drop out and you could replace with subs.
also, maybe put out another thread saying how many more people we need to even teams out...you might just get them!

I was going to start a new thread, but I'll just add it on here...I was scrolling thru my email addresses and I came across Julie's..I nearly sent her an email..its still hard..it hasnt really sunked in yet.Thread: I'm bulking! By choice! Anyone else? (168 Views)
SAS- I'm just starting creatine too. I'm also not very big so I'm only going to take 2g post workout on weight training days. How much were you going to load?
TNT- Thanks for your advice! I am thin, but I do gain fat pretty easily around the abdomen, so I'm reluctant to cut out cardio completely. Isn't it your husband who can eat and eat and eat and not gain an ounce? That's not me! I definitely gain fat if I let my eating get out of control. From what I've read, doing 20 minutes or less of interval training a couple of times a week shouldn't work against me. But any cardio longer than that, wouldn't be a good idea.
This is the training program I'm following:
http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=51
If nothing else, following a new program after 10 months of BFL-style weight lifting, will shake things up a little.

I wish I could get my wife to do a challenge with me. We can never really talk about our "fitness goals", probably the one thing we can't talk about, she is very sensitive about it...I better be careful, she might catch me... LOL

Yeah, My body needed a NAP earlier and I took it but the entire day I was thinking, "when are you going to workout? You know you HAVE TOO! Yeah that little damn devil that sits on my shoulder! LOL!
Well I had to wait until my son went to sleep which was 8:15, then I pulled the furniture away from the carpet and put in the 45 min DVD. This DVD has some funky, butt kicking moved and I love it, almost like dancing and taebo at the same time,,, COOL WORKOUT!
I'll get there! I promise! For myself and to remember Julie, someone that NEVER gave up, no matter how sick she was and here are some of us, just sitting on our rear, being lazy and making excuses. I was one of them too,,
Well in the memory of Julie Whitt and all the encouragement that she gave me, I can live my life better!
For myself, for my son! Have a great night!
Excellent job!
Awesome Booty Babe! You are on a roll!
Stef :-)
Way to go! Now THAT is determination.
Yeah it KICKED MY REAR END!!!!!!!LOL!
This work out is heart pumping, pelvic thrusting, hip shaking work-out! Actually get your groove on and while your burning calories. I love it! Hitting the gym today "lunch" to get my weights in, can't overdo it, still recovering from surgery, but I can't sit on the couch forever!
WOOOO HOOO way to go booty babe!!!! Awesome work out.. have fun with the weights.
Good to see you're back at it Girl!!! ... yea don't forget you need to heal all up those legs girl- how are they doin btw??

I am sitting at my desk trying to figure out when I can fit my cardio in today, I will just have to lock my son down in his highchair and go for it, will incorporate bands and weights. I LOVE IT, I can't wait until all the fire is back, That is the TRUE BOOTYBABE!
PROMISE: To post a new BOOTYBABE photo only on the TRACKER SITE!!!!!!!!
Udenia I wanted to try turbo jam ever since I saw the infomercial. Since you seemed to enjoy it, I think I'll give it a try. Can't wait to see your new pics.
I always love to incorporate new things into my workout, I love Core Secrets, "tears the ABs up" and this workout is just FUN. Well hell, your dancing, shaking that junk in your trunk, lol! and burning calories. It is well worth it and I am going to buy the rest of her collection just to be able to mix it up from time to time!
GOOD LUCK!Thread: we did goals..who do you want to inspire in 2006? (139 Views)
Morning!
The goals for 2006 was a very good thread! Got me to thinking..
whether its your very first challenge, or you lost count of how many you completed, who do you hope to inspire with your transformation in 2006?
For me, I hope I inspire all of you, because you inspire the hell out of me! :)
I also hope to inspire my wife and my brother. Ever since I started I've been trying to get her to do this with me..maybe with her lack of energy hitting an all time low, 2006 will be the year.
My brother is 400 pounds. Need I say more?
Hmm I don't know that I have anyone to really inspire other than myself lol. I am taking a bit of a break right now and want to hit it hard when we get back. I don't think I can sit through next week though lol. I am already itchin to get to the gym, which is a good thing.
I hope that your wife comes around, and with some love and encouragement I am sure she will. Sometimes our spouses just need to see that we set the example first.
Urs
I want to inspire anyone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was there and didnt even realize that there is a different life, full of energy and drive and that each one of us can have it, if we will just work for it.
Funny this thread was posted. Ok sit back this may be a lil long.
I ran ibnto a highscholl bud of mine, when we where in school, this guy had the body of a Greek God, He workout hard and was in the best shape anyone could want to be in. ( I am not gay..lol) Well now he is pushing over 300 labs and stands 5'11". After spending a lil time with him, catching up on the past twenty years he saw my copy of Body For LIfe on my coffe table. He asked what it was all about. I pulled out my laptop and showed him my tracker site. His words where "Damn Birdy" He asked me how I did it I told him to take the book home and he did not want to. Well after a few days I spoke to him, he called and asked me what kinds of food should he eat, I told him. Now he has lost 5 lbs and is eating right and drinking tons of water. SO I would have to say my best friend from highschool.
I want to inspire anyone!!!
But personally, I most want to inspire my mother.
Danielle
Ursula, I'm having the same problem, was going to take two weeks off, I haven't gotten to the end of week 1 and I feel guilty about not going to the gym.......I also, kep thinking about how painful that first workout will be.
next week will be even more difficult
Ok - really I need to inspire myself first cuz I am the typical person who starts a challenge and doesn't finish it, so I have to keep that in mind...but I would also like to inspire my wife. She is in much better shape and health than I am (And she has MS!!), but she struggles with her diet specifically eating enough protein mostly cuz she is mostly a vegitarian and refuses to eat chicken at all or tofu and turkey all the time. I told her that with how much she exercises if she could find a way to up her protein she would see much better results.. to insipre her I will have to lead by example...
Joe
I just want to be an encouragement to everyone. I think maybe moms in particular who think that their pre-baby body is gone forever. I want to prove to those people that you can be in even BETTER shape after you have kids then before. That is my goal for this next challenge. Also, my mom. She has been overweight almost her whole life and I would love to keep her around for a LONG time!!
Shelly =)
I've wanted to inspire my husband but thanks to the doc he's taken care of that one.....my father in-law and mother in-law, they want it but have every excuse in the book why they can't. I want to inspire them to better their health.
My mom! Somehoe I will figure out a way.....
It would have to be my wife... Her health is failing rapidly due to CF (Cystic Fibrosis) and will require a double lung transplant in the near future. However, before she can go through this challenging proceedure (as we all know), she will have to gain weight and be in good physical shape... She looks at me and sees how BFL is just the vehicle she needs to prepare herself for this journey. She has already asked me to set up a workout program for her and she wants to start her C1 the same day I start my C2 on Jan. 23.
-Ed-
I want to inspire my husband who is 5'6" and 240+ lbs. I keep waiting for the heartattack call. It really is awful living with that fear. He doesn't think there is anything wrong with him and that he is in no danger. Yikes!
What a tough question for me.
There are a few people close to me but if I can inspire anyone to make a change, even if I never know I was the inspiration, that would be great.
I want to inspire my wife, she needs to do something about her health and getting back inshape will go a long way in accomplishing that! This past 12 weeks have really made an impact on me and I think it's starting to rub off on my wife. She says she is ready to start on the 2nd!
I'd like to inspire anyone, but especially my parents. My dad is really heavy, and since he's 70 this year, he can't keep putting off losing weight. My mom has lost some weight in the past few years, but not in the healthiest ways.
I'd also like to inspire a couple of friends who have made comments about my success so far.
Micky
I want to inspire myself. That does sound selfish, but I think it is an important example for my children to see me love who I am...Insecurity is a huge issue with kids and for me to be okay with striving to be my best, it can only be good for them. Plus it gets us out of the house, exploring, being active and away from the TV and computer!
My mother. I bought her the books for her birthday, but haven't heard anything about whether she's trying it. But I'd like to see her get buff! :)
I want to inspire my hubby Bill, but it's just hopeless, I'm doing BFL almost a year now and he is so supportive and proud of me yet he says he doesn't want to do it, NO NO NO WAY!
He eats pretty healthy, but he will no exercise except for the reg rountine arountine the farm, he says it's not for him, yet he helps me and supports me in every way possible, he even pushes me sometimes to get moving, I just can't get him moving
Oh well
Thread: Last meal? (150 Views)
What does everyone eat for their last meal of the day? The reason I ask is I read the EFL and BFL books and the sample of what people eat in their last meal was a protein drink.
Now is that the reason why you dont want that many carbs for your last meal because when you wake up and do your hard cardio you start burning fat first?
Help me PLEEEEASE Thanx
I hink something to do with carbs not being used much while you sleep, excess carbs will be stored as fat.
Kerry
I found around week 9 or 10....I just wasn't needing that 6th meal to get me through the night......I wasn't getting hungry during the night like I had weeks 1 through about 6.
So, I just started having meal 5 around 7:30-8:00 instead of 6:00-6:30....and I only have a protein and a vegetable, no carb.
but, when I did have a 6th meal.....it was cottage cheese
aren't all 6 meals supposed to be a protein AND a carb?
Jame alot of people tend to skip the carbs in the last meal. It certainly wouldn't be wrong to have a carb in your last meal its just a matter of preference.
I usually do a protein shake as my last meal before bed :D
what is the reason though? i thought your body didn't use the protein properly unless there was a carb to go with it??
Cottage cheese is an excellent choice before bed because of the casein protein. Whey protein would be the last thing you want to take before bed because it digests so fast. You want a slow digesting protein.
Kerry explained the reason for no carbs before bed quite nicely.
I usually eat cottage cheese an apple. It's not a lot of calories and the casein proteing and fiber in the apple help carry me through the night so I don't wake up quite as hungry.
I usally eat a small apple with natural Peanut butter or, just cottage cheese.
But latley I have found that I am not hungry for that last meal..and I don't wake up hungry. I thnk that means my body is happy with the five meals beforehand?
as you see (further up the thread); I accepted it as a message from my bod, telling me it just wasn't needed.
Myoplex shake
I either have fat free cottage cheese, 8 egg whites, or a myoplex lite shake.Thread: Cold morning for Florida (82 Views)
Cardio day, I hit it and hit good. It was a cold morning for Florida..mid 40’s, I so did not want to get out of bed. I guess a lot of other people did not as well, the gym had half the normal amount of people in it this morning. No that alone pumped me up. Knowing that I made it to the gym, this caused me to push myself a lil harder, what a great feeling it is to know that I went hard and further today. I hope you all have an awesome day... Jon
Cold....you don't know COLD. hehehe
We are in for a treat here in Indiana today. Our expected high temp will be 45 degrees. It's been single digits in the mornings this past week. YIKES!
So ENJOY your Florida weather for me!
Danielle
im down in south florida and its cold here too! but i think the northern folks would laugh at this!
alexis
Yes, Northern folks do laugh at this!
Not laughing at your misery and freezing, but everything really is relative. Coldest I remember here was
-40 celsius ( including wind chill factor) or about -30 farinheight)
You have no idea about how cold THAT is, lol
Yours in "freezing" Health,
Kerry
I'm in South FL too and our heat actually came on last night! BRRRR! I think we'll only see a high in the 60's today. Love this holiday weather tho.
Orlando is a bit cold today...relative, Northerners, of course....
It's supposed to get into the 70's starting tomorrow through Sunday. So, although it may be warmer here, sometimes we wish it would be colder!
Warm wishes for the holidays from Florida!
OMG - it is freeezing! Our blood is so thin down here!!!
Glad you got a great workout in Jon!
it is warming up
It's gonna be in the 70's here for Christmas yippeeeeee I am excited!
26 degrees here in N. Florida - But they had the fans going in the gym at 6:00am - Didnt want to get out of bed, but I always remember one of Jim Shelton's favorite sayings. "Don't Think Just Do It."
So I am up and out to the gym no matter what.
Thanks Jim!

Hey gang..........
I NEED to come back, but have found myself to really be struggling as of late. It must be being 42 and at a strange crossroads of life. I was very disheartened by the Tracker-troubles and didn't have the energy to deal with it. I happened to jump on yesterday and Nancy caught me and PM'd me. So here I am!
I saw the news about Julie and I am really sad and shaken about that. She was one of a few people who personally emailed me when I finished C1 back in May. What a sweet, sweet person and an inspiration!
I did actually start lifting again last week, but it was "half-hearted" and not "ALL-IN" as we used to say. So...........Can BB come back??? Will you have me? Can 2006 be even better than ever?
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2006 to you and yours...
BIG BULL bloggin'
Welcome BULL!
2006 Bigger and better than EVER!
Now get your ASS to work!!!!

Welcome back!!! Good to see it getting back to the good old tracker again!
Micky :)
I'm SO glad you're back!!! Thank you. Yes, the news of Julie's death was a shock but. . .she wouldn't have let tracker-troubles deter her!! She would have risen above them and not let anyone or anything interfere with her desire to be fit and healthy. We shouldn't let other people distract us either (I think quite a few of us feel we've been through the tracker wringer).
With positive energy, we can get back to the way tracker should be--and it's GREAT to have you back again.
Yes, BB, I'm ALL IN!!! Welcome back!!

Tai-Kee pops in and out. She's been lurking.
GREAT to have you back, Big Bull! I had been thinking about you over the last couple of months - I was hoping things were going well with you but I suppose you are as vulnerable as the rest of us.
There is a great surge of renewed motivation around here and you have returned just in time. Sure, the holidays are tough but we are all on track for Jan. 2nd.
Let's go for it!
Welcome Back Big Bull!!! We are happy to have you back again!!!!

Sylvia aka Cookie1135Thread: Calling all good hearted people - need help! (195 Views)
I just read Linda’s post – Think Positive and thought:
How do you get a positive attitude? I am struggling so much these past few weeks with my attitude. I am so envious of Julie & Linda for their beautiful, positive attitudes. Julie’s hurdles with health & Linda’s hurdle with the hurricane and I think to myself - I have SO much to be thankful for. My health, my family’s health, a job, a roof over my head, and much, much more. So, why can't I be happy and thankful? I just don't get it. I am cranky and in a bad mood & don't know how to get out of it. I am doing all my workouts and don't think my endorphins thingy is working :)
How do you do it? How do I get over this hump? I went off my depression meds about 6 mos ago, with my dr's permission, and thought that the BFL would be my answer. It's not. If I could, I would scrap this x-mas completely and this is totally not me.
I am coming here because many of you have jumped so many hurdles this past year with success and I need some of you to send me somehow a piece of your good hearts and karma.
I would be so grateful!
Christine
I believe it is a conscious decision, at least at first. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it, but we do choose how we react to the things life throws at us. Sometimes you just have to decide to put on a happy face and jump the hurdles even though it's not the easiest thing to do.
That said, if what you have is depression it's obviously not that easy. Maybe you need to talk to your doctor about going back on the meds, maybe at a smaller dosage, until BFL and the good feelings that come from it can kick in.
Karma on the way. :)
Jess
Jess is right.
I think ultimately, building and controlling a new & improved body is a powerful experience in and of itself.
The good news is it tends to spill over into other unexpected areas of life ( hence the mental strength )
Success to You,
Yours in Health,
Kerry
Hey PC, I first want to tell you that your 6 week pics look great. It is obvious that you are working hard.
I am not a medical doctor, but I am married to someone who suffers with depression. He got off of his meds for awhile too and it was not very pleasant for either of us. I find that he is better when he is working out, eating right, and taking his meds. Not great, but better. Every person has to go through trials and errors until they find what is right for them. I hope that you continue to work with your doctor to find what is right for you.
My husband doesn't understand how I can find the good in bad things, and I don't know either. I do know that I have strong faith.
I also have a father who has told me ever since I was a little girl to think about this:
Why are you mad?
Is being mad making you feel better or worse?
Is being mad helping or changing the situation?
Can you help or change the situation?
If so, DO!
If not, quit wasting your precious life being mad! (at this point I usually pray for the person who angered me or the situation I cannot control, it makes me feel like I am doing something)
I try to apply it to my life as often as I can. It took awhile to become habit, but decades later I still use it.
My husband thinks I am a little bit of a Polly Anna - but I can think of worse things to be called!!!
Good Luck, I think half of the battle is realizing that you want to work on it. PM me if you need anything.
I'm sorry you're low. I don't have any great advice. Getting out with friends and doing something fun helps lift my spirits. Also expressing myself creatively (I'm a writer). But like Jess said, if you're experiencing clinical depression you might need some extra help.
Take care,
Renee
Wow, what a beautiful smile! And, look at that progess you have made. That is fantastic!! Jess said it best above: it is a conscious decision. It is not easy to make that conscious decision but you have to. What do YOU want? Not your husband, your child, or youe doctor. YOU. As for coming off the meds, think back to why you decided to come off them. What skills did you learn to control or id your emotions? Since coming off mine, I occassionally have bad days where I wish I was on them, but after thinking why I am down I can usually find an external reason (finances, etc) for my low point. Plus, knowing it takes a good 4 - 6 weeks for the meds to build up and make a change, well, by then, I know I will not be low again. Just some thoughts. And keep on smiling and working BFL. It is making a change for you!!
Thanks guys. Your right and I know your right - I am in control & I am the one who needs to change my attitude. Sometime you want to hear an easy way out but ultimately it is ME that needs to fix the problem. I just got to figure out how to pretend that I am happy when I am not and hopefully if I pretend hard enough & long enough - I will just become habit.
That is the ticket! Making good habits makes us better people.
Hey you ... I'm gonna go find you on Messenger... give you a BIG HUG!
pamela*
Christine, as said above, it is a conscious decision......read Cheryl Muhr's blog today. She touches on the key to positive thinking, SELF TALK!! http://www.bodyforlife.com/community/blog.asp?author=cmuhr&apL=5
You have everything it takes already inside you, the hard part is tapping into it. I know you can do it!! You already have done so much to change your life. It will be hard at first but every moment that you think something negative, tell yourself, NO MORE, and think of something that makes you smile. Maybe even make a list to look at in times like that. Also, when you are feeling down, do something for someone else. This always helps refocus the mind. When we genuinly give to others we can't help but be given a gift as well. I can tell that you already have what it takes to be the best!! You are here seeking, aren't you?? That says A LOT about you!! Hugs, Shelly =)
Instead of trying to make yourself feel happy, maybe go for grateful? Happiness can be fleeting; it's hard to feel up all the time. But acknowledging what is good in your life can make you feel more centered and calm and that can impart a certain contentedness that might even be joyful.
If you're keeping a BFL journal, maybe begin writing 5 or 10 things each day that you're truly thankful for. It doesn't have to be something huge (some days I'm grateful for my pillow and a hot shower, after all). Acknowledging what you have may help you feel more positive about your life.
And don't be resistant to talking to your doctor. As someone with clinical depression myself, I know you can't force a good mood if your chemicals aren't functioning correctly.
Megan
Christine,
It's a additude you must reach in side of your self and pull out.
Happiness comes from within ourselves,
Life is given to us each day and life is what we make it, My BFL buddy anavywife just sent me a little plaque that says, Life is God's gift to us, what we do with that life is our gift to God,
that is so true.
Christine, I may come across as always happy, over the internet, but I have more then my share of moments, I too suffer from Depression. I take medication for it.
For everything in my life I could tell you two stories, this is what I feel is the key to positive thinking and being happy both inside and out.
I could say
Story 1: I was abandoned in the hospital at birth, my parents said I was a sick baby and left me there, No one loved me and I was put into foster care
or I could say
I was born without an esphogus and I was very very sick, I spent the 1st 3 years of my life in the hospital until the Drs went to court and found the most amazing loving parents to take care of me and nutroius me to grow into a healthy and happy person. I thank God everyday for sending his angels to earth to take care of me and love me so very very much. I called them, Mama and Daddy, I wonder what name God called them?
Story 2
I could say
I wanted children, I wanted a big family, I dreamed of the day I would have a little girl named Heather that would look and act just like I did when I was little. a little angel that would think I was the greastest thing since lolipops.
But I tried everything and couldn't get pregant, I went to the Dr, We did everything from artificial ins to intro ferterizaltion, nothing worked,I cried all the time, I was depressed, all I asked for was one little baby, I would be a wonderful mother, why can't I have a baby?
or
I can say
I was never able to get pregant, We tried everything we could but God had other plans, He had this little girl picked out for me that was having problems in her family and he wanted to wait til the right time for me to meet this little girl and see if what I dreamed for was really what I wanted.
So God lead me through my life and on to moving to Mississippi where he gave me the idea to become a foster parent . When I did become a foster parent he sent me a phone call, a call from a 13 year old that I didn't know, she wanted to meet me, she was in a foster home and needed to be moved to a new foster home. She was quite positive from the beginning I would be please with her, even though I told the anency I only wanted a 2 to 5 year old child.
I invited the young girl over and instancely fell for her, she was a real dream, she stayed with us and became our family,
Niki married and had her 1st baby which she named Heather, I'll never forget when she said, mama, now you have your baby Heather.
Heather is now 9 years old and she thinks I am better then lolipops.
She now has a bother, Billy Joe 7 and a sister, paige 4.
Amazing they all 3 look like they were mine, The day we adopted, Even the social workers and the judge said it was almost scary on how much Niki and I looked alike.
That's only 2 stories I will tell you about, but their are plenty more, it's your feelings that carry you through and make you be a happy person or a depressed person.
I know how depression feels, it's hard to snap out of it, I know only too well, but you just have to turn your thoughts around and look for the good side of everthing and you will be happier.
So think happy thoughts and Merry Christmas and happy new year to you,
Love,
GET*HER*DONE LINDA
Christine,
I'm exactly where you are and in the process of figuring it out!
Just gave you a bit of karma to start building! Baby steps, sweetie!
Connie
Can't add anything better than what was said above, but I wanted you to know that you are doing great, and I love the "spin" Linda puts on her examples above, and think that would be a great start, like connie says...baby steps...
hugs
Christie
Christine, you have heard from some amazing people already. I wish you the best this holiday season!
Linda...you are just.....AWESOME! That was a wonderful story of your life. It gave me big warm fuzzies all over.
G*H*D- wow, that really touched my heart. I don't know what to say other than you are so right.

Hey gang, I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaack LOL. Well sort of...I am starting a new challenge on Jan 2nd. I will pop in here though from time to time until then and do my best to help and motivate all of you much as I can.
I have found that, without tracker, I start losing my motivation and drive to succeed. I have done some serious damage to my results from previous challenges. Seriously, I'm not making this up LOL. I will post before pics AGAIN the day before this challenge starts and you will all see EXACTLY what I mean LOL.
Plus I'm not getting any younger. I have a birthday coming up really soon and its depressing the hell out of me. Good Lord 38 already!!!! Where does the time go?
I also plan to re-read the BFL book to get that fire started once again.
I have missed you all. I miss that comraderie we all had with each other. Friends are so hard to come by, so when you find them, hold them close to you and cherish them forever.
Merry Christmas!!! I am wishing you all much success in 2006.
Love, Lisa xoxo
YAY YAY YAY!! Lisa, do you know that you are one of the first people I saw on here when I joined Tracker? And you immediately inspired me to get moving. I love your no-BS attitude and I am SO glad you are back too.
Let's all help each other find success in 2006!
xoxo Jess

I'm going to consider this an early gift
Wow.... everyone who motivated me early on is coming back..... and everyone I've met recently is staying.... YAY!!!
I feel like it is a Christmas family get together. Many of you have no idea who I am, but boy do I feel like I know you!!!!! You have no idea how much your posts helped me through some pretty rough times this past year. The power of a positive attitude has a way of dominoing (word?). You people kept me focused on the one thing in my life that I could control. TNT, JDub, and Goddessa, thank you for that and thank you for coming back. There are more, but they are not on this post.
Merry Christmas
Tracker really helps me stay motivated too! Great to have you back! :o)
Hi, Lisa!!! We are gonna kick some major fat off our bodies this next challenge!!! I am nervous about taking those pics, too! We will put them up together and maybe it won't be so bad!!!

Thread: speaking of creatine.... (64 Views)
Someone who I know that is good friends with Jay Cutler told me that Jay did not recommend creatine for people who want to lose weight. Do any of you feel this is true? I mean, if I gain some lean weight to offset my weight loss, I'm OK with that! What do you think?
I agree I'm ok with that. I would rather put on lean weight. I figure the more muscle I gain the more my body will burn the Fat and the quicker I'll loose fat.
If you're doing an official challenge I would come off of it a couple weeks before your "after" pictures because of the water retention.
I certainly do not see anything wrong with using it up until the final weeks.
Im off of it right now...but before now I never went off of creatine
Ok, maybe I'm misinformed, but it's my understanding that creatine causes your muscles to retain more water thereby making them look bigger, but not really having any strength gaining advantages? Anybody who has a better physiologial description, please feel free to share. Correct me if I wrong, please.
You are right...sorta.
When your muslces retain more water it takes a little less effort to lift heavier weights. When you lift heavier, your muslces grow because they are being stimulated by increased weight. This is how creatine helps bulid muscle.
Its a little simplistic but I think I got it mostly right.
I actually wrote my dissertation on creatine in college. I know that there have been a lot of new studies since 2002 but I in my oppinion it would be benificial to laod and take creatine while trying to lose body fat. Obviously you may gain weight depending on how much lean mass you gain. You may gain some water weight that will exit the body when you take a break from the creatine. Some people don't experience that much water weight if any. Remember creatine is naturally found in everyone, whe you supplement it you are just increasing your already maintained levels. Vegetarians seem to get the most positive effects from creatine because is is not in their diet (it is found in red meat and other food sources). I recommend taking it and if you gain some water weight then go off of it two weeks before your final photos. Also cycle this product, take at least a month off every eight weeks.
wow a month off?? I really noticed this morning how much moreof a struggle my back workout was compared to last week when I was using creatine. I personally dont see the need to load either..when I go bakc on Ill just take my normal 5g a day
Loading phases have always been a debate, they may be more beneficial to some people. Personally I don't load anymore. Also depending on the size of the person the doses can be changes to give you better results.Thread: ...to the MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (181 Views)

I'm about 1/2 done with week 4 of my first challenge and I've noticed a certain...squishiness. The areas of my body that carry most of my chub (I'm looking at you, thighs and hips!!) seem to be getting weirdly squeezable and squishy.
I vaguely recall when I first visited the tracker that there was a discussion of squishiness, but I clearly didn't pay enough attention. What's up with my squishiness??

I think it's because you've lost those deeper layers of fat so what's on top is looser now. Congratulations! :o)

Sadly, I can attest that the squish factor works in reverse, too. As in, when your fat cells start filling up again after they've depleted some stores.
Squish, squishy, squish.

What this means is that yes you are loosing. The fat cells are shrinking. My friend tells me while dieting your gonna look worse before you get better talking about the loose squishy stuff. It's all part of the process.

Does anyone have experience with this process? Is there an effective(and safe) home application?

Hahahahahaha funny you should ask. I have never done the whole colon cleansing but I have heard that GNC sells a system? kit? what do they call it pills? for this.
Honestly I had some issues because of my new diet and won't go into details LOL but well to stay regular with all this protein my GI doctor put me on Citrucel every morning. Works just fine. Never thought I'd be concerned about my fiber in-take at 31 LMAO.
BTW we really like talking about poo around here. LOL you will be surprised by the amount of replies LOL......

I haven't gone to that measure.
But, Teresa, I had the very same problem just a few short weeks ago. I added 2 TBSP of milled flax seed to my protien shake in the morning.....worked like a charm.

I am sorry but I am clueless here. What is the purpose of colon cleansing? I have heard of it but it does not sound like much fun.
Body for Life Forum Message by Myintencity (6 posts) at 10:20 AM
Hey T-N-T,
I'll check out GNC. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a sales associate who's familiar with "pooping products" (can I say that?)

I sell products for Arbonne International. They have a supplement called Herbal Colon Cleanse.
I just bought some and will start taking it on January 2nd with my new challenge.
It's one of their most popular products.
Arbonne makes natural products with no animal testing and no animal by-products. PM me for pricing info if you'd like to give it a try.

I understand that when John Waynes' body was autopsied(spelling?) he had around 40 Lbs. of undigested fecal matter in his colon. Are most of us really carrying this stuff around? I'm sure you have to factor in age, diet, etc. No wonder I feel the way I do.

Actually thats just an urban legend, see the link for more information. As for the benefit of colon cleansing? Well I don't know anything : )

hahahahaha so does this mean we are all full of ....
Bahahaha sorry I just could not resist. LOL.
Body for Life Forum Message by SupaFreak (954 posts) at 12:04 PM
At least I know I'm full of shit. I ended up in the ER several years ago. I though my appendix had ruptured.
My husband was joking as we were waiting for the results of the XRays. He said, 'Wouldn't it be funny if the doc says you are just full of shit?"
And guess what the doc said....
Total humiliation.

I just looked into a product I heard of from a friend. You might want to check it out. If you have a squimish (sp?) stomach, DO NOT click on the photo gallery....need I say more? Yes, there are pics. Just wanted to stick the warning in here.
Anyhow, if anyone is interested, PM me and I will give you the site.

I have taken a colon cleanser it eliminates the toxin build up in your colon and any fecal matter that might get trapped in your colon. Word of warning take it on the weekend when your at home because, you’ll need to be close by a bathroom!
It works great at the beginning of a challenge to start you off on the right cheek ohhh I mean foot! hehehehehe
