This individual journal is perfect since I'm not a member of any particular team.

I'm training for a 5K in October and this is the first time I've ran in a while.  I started Sunday and my 5K time was 45:01.  Yikes.  Did weights yesterday, and went to do 5K training again this morning and my treadmill decided to go on the fritz, probably from lack of use.  I ran around the block 3X for 30 minutes instead, but not sure how far that is.  Gotta drive the route today to see how I did.

Eats not okay.  It's fair week and I'm enjoying the fair food, which the highly processed carbs are really helping me get through the runs.

My weight is fine and I'm not trying to lose any, just maintain.  I need a new goal, so 5K training it is.  My goal time is 35 minutes.  Why not?

Are you just trying to finish competitively or are you in it to win it?

Nice new avatar!

I'm in it to FINISH it!  I'll start training to win one after I finish the first.  It's been all about muscle growth for so long that I'm not a runner anymore.  I used to run cross country in high school.  I don't know how the heck I did that!!

And thanks

Beka go to www.mapmyrun.com and map the route around your house. It will tell you the distance. I bet it's farther than you think. Good Luck I am sure you will KILL 35 minutes.

Warrior (Dee?)  I just drive it and the block is exactly a half mile.  I sucked worse this morning than Sunday morning.   Thanks Bing.

Your times will improve each week so don't sweat it.  I bet you run it faster than 35 mins.

I'm counting on it, and faster than 35 would be great, but my hips are still hurting from Sunday's run.  This is gonna be a fun journey

When I train for a 5k i try to do a hard hiit or speed work at a track on Monday, a hill routine for a couple miles on the treadmill on Wed, then I do a long run on Fridays trying to increase my mileage and speed each week.  It works for me  Make sure you are doing alot of strtching to keep your hips loose.  I have noticed as I age i need to stretch more than I used too  Not that I am admitting that I am old or anythingYell

I'll openly admit that I'm getting old.  I need to stretch for longer, I guess, and I may try your routine and see how that works for me.
